On January 30, you posted an op-ed piece on your website addressing the actions the Republican Party is taking towards repealing the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare). Your website did not address the executive order titled “Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the United States” (aka #MuslimBan) pushed out at the start of the weekend. This matter is much more important because it challenges the basic American values of religious freedom. Your job is upholding the Constitution, which this order violates. There are disturbing reports that the executive branch is directly disobeying the judicial branch, which is a Constitutional crisis that requires Congress to act. There is fairly conclusive evidence that a foreign power interfered in our presidential election, which is of grave concern to all Americans as it threatens the sanctity of the American democratic process.

What has the Indiana GOP focused on? Justifying the repeal of the ACA by publishing a highly partisan, inaccurate portrayal of it in the Indianapolis Star. This op-ed piece indicates to your constituents that our representatives value party over country. Instead of addressing the issues that threaten the very core of our American identity, you push the GOP “A Better Way Health Care Policy” which is far from an actual plan. Most of the 37-page document is attacks on the ACA, not well thought out policies and solutions. The GOP had 6 years to fix the issues with the ACA, but instead chose to obstruct and attempt to repeal. This is a disgrace, and Hoosiers do not forget your actions.

If Clinton had been elected, and she had attempted even a single action the current administration has, the GOP would be fighting for impeachment. Why are you silent now that a member of your party has been elected? Do you not care about our basic American values when the person flouting them is GOP? Shame on the Indiana GOP. Show Hoosiers that you value our American ideals by holding your leader accountable for his indefensible disregard for our Constitution.

Regards,

A concerned constituent from Bloomington, IN
